Last month of November, the Spanish Science Ministry officially launched ALEXANDRIA PROJECT.

ALEXANDRIA PROJECT is a technological consortium with more than 17 companies and 9 technological agents that will position Spain as a leader in the development of techniques and methodologies of Damage testing and Dimensional Metrology for aerospace, rail, naval and wind power sector.

The main objective of this project is to develop new Technologies and new inspection and measurement techniques that will allow the development of innovative solutions that can be applied to design, manufacture and maintenance of large and valuable components, addressing the following scientific and technological areas.

  • NDT - Inspection and non destructive testing of materials.
  • Dimensional high rank Metrology.

ALEXANDRIA can be divided in four subprojects:

  • SUB 1 – ARISTARCHUS: Development of new methodologies and techniques for defect inspection and Non Destructives Testing in the aeronautic, rail, naval and wind power sector.
  • SUB 2 – ERATHOSTENES: Development of new techniques and methodologies for high rank non contact methodology applied to measure and digitalize 3D large parts.
  • SUB 3 – HIPPARCHUS: Development of techniques and methodologies to verify and calibrate machines and high precision measuring systems.
  • SUB 4 – HYPATIA: Development of innovative inspection technology to test high valuable components in the rail transport sector.

fotoALEXANDRIA brings together the most important companies and investigation institutions in the Spanish inspection, measurement and quality control sectors.

DASEL is included in the subproject ARISTARCHUS, this Project led by Ideko will develop the most advanced NDT techniques with and without contact applied to Air Power Generation, Aerospace, Rail Transport and Naval Sectors.  Some of the most important companies in the world are included in this project, such as: AIRBUS, ITP, CAF, CONSTRUCCIONES NAVALES, DANOBAT, DANORAIL…

DASEL will coordinate its work with the company INNERSPEC contributing with Phased Array technology or TOFD multi-element, among others techniques.
